The humble, ordinary, simple, unappreciated sink is the alpha and omega of the kitchen. It's where it all starts and where it all ends. The sink is basic, it's fundamental. The sink is about water, and water is life. Before we do anything else -- before we wash the produce, before we handle the knives, before we put the food in the pans -- the very first thing we do is wash our hands.
