Chanctonbury Ring

A soft druid morning, still and perfect, arrives as quiet as a prayer. The trees stand true, trustworthy stewards welcoming the dawn.

There is a poetic symmetry at work here. The words true and tree come from the same Old English word, tréowe, which is grounded in the Indo-European term dreu. That term is, not surprisingly, also the origin of the Gaelic word druid. All these words are interconnected; they share the same deep roots.

As we enjoy the simple beauty of the dawn, there is an equally profound satisfaction the comes from the awareness that everything…every thing…is connected.
