Too cold for swinging

Empty playgrounds are so Leonard Cohen.

There’s something graceful and awkward about them, if that makes any sense at all. There’s something graceful and awkward about them, even if it doesn’t make any sense. Sense doesn’t really figure into it. The fact is, empty and playground don’t belong in the same sentence.

But there it is. An empty playground, just standing there being all Leonard Cohen. Or maybe The Terminator. That scene in which all the mothers and little children are turned to ash and then blown away. Sad, in any event. Forlorn.

Have you heard Leonard Cohen sing Hallelujah? He’s got a voice like it’s made from the ashes of dead mothers and children. Graceful and awkward. Sad. Forlorn. Very much an empty playground.
