It still feels like Halloween

Breathe deep and you can smell the earthy, fungal scent of autumnal decay. A curl of wood smoke hangs in the air on the roof above the chimney. There is one last ray of sunshine reflecting off the window.

It still feels like Halloween because the souls from the day of the dead have yet to give way to the spirit of Christmas.

Soon there will be mistletoe and solstice celebrations. But for now, it still feels like Halloween.
