Had it been watching all night?

You might wake to birdsong, cicadas, sirens, laughter, fairground music, a train whistle, sausages sizzling, a teaspoon clinking, the clock ticking on a bomb, waves crashing against rocks, the sound of a celestial choir. Christine surely must have heard a rooster.

You might smell bullshit, Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee beans, dog farts, pizza, popcorn, cotton candy, Chanel No5, diesel fumes. Christine I would guess smelled fresh mown hay.

You might have rain, migrating butterflies, sleet, an earthquake, tornadoes, or even robotic locusts. Christine woke to a blue sky with wispy white clouds and an anthropomorphic red barn peeking slyly at her through the window. I suspect that however well you woke up Christine still wins.
