The first of May seems like a lifetime away, yet it less than a week in the past. Hours turn into days, into weeks. Time passes, slow and fast. Is mother nature also losing a sense of time, while we are stuck at home, or slowly emerging, using concepts we never knew we’d need to understand, like lockdown or shelter in place. Like R or PPE.

This image is evocative of autumn with its fallen leaves and muddy boots, though it was taken on May Day.

Are we nearing the end or is this just the beginning?

Whichever it is, take a moment to notice the leaves, be grateful for the block paving that supports your weight, for the boots that keep mud and water out. Have gratitude for the little things, the shoots of spring and the fallen leaves that start the process of renewal in autumn.
