It doesn’t have to have been shot on a plastic toy camera with its dreamy focus fall off. But I think you’ll agree that in this case it helps.

Of course there is no need to use film, that you have to go to the trouble of getting developed or developing yourself. There are all manner of apps and filters that would make your life easy, if easy is what you like. But though your consciousness may not tell you that you are looking particles of grain, the effect is different. So it helps.

And of course you have to stand in the right place, know how your film works, and get the best from a camera that has a cloudy setting that only works if you have taken the damn thing to pieces and reassembled it yourself. Even with that, you have to know the light and how to work it because with this camera your options are limited.

But if you do all of this, you might not end up with something this beautiful but it definitely helps.
