Donut hatchlings mature rapidly. Once they reach adulthood their lifespan can be measured in hours, or at most a couple of days. Many will become very competitive and narcissistic, going to extraordinary lengths to get noticed. Sometimes, as seen here, they will mutilate themselves, don extravagant garb, or pile on top of one another to gain mating advantage.
