The stars slowly appear during nautical twilight. Actually, they haven't gone anywhere; it's just when we face our sun its glare overwhelms the sky. But you can still see the stars and planets in daylight through a telescope. Seriously, you can. Just find an amateur astronomer with a GoTo mounted telescope and I'm sure he or she will be glad to show you Venus in daylight or Betelguese.
