A part of my submission to this summer's Utata Big Project, "Homage". The subject of this homage being William Eggleston.
One of Eggleston's iconic images was his 1970 'Tricycle'. As has been said many times the ordinariness of the subject matter intrigued viewers of the time. It occured to me that here in 2013 these scooters have become as commonplace and unregarded as the kids tricycle was 40 odd years ago. In 1970, age 5, I had a trike very similar to the one Eggleston photographed, I hope it's at least 40 more years before I'm scooting around on one of these machines.
