Commute 3

Damn, damn damn. It's August Bank Holiday and that invariably means the Preston Bypass is snarled up by the trippers off for a weekend in Blackpool, the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks and Scotland. I hate traffic, an aversion that means I'll go miles out my way to avoid it on days like this. The side roads, hamlets and villages of Central Lancashire, places such as Goosnargh, Chipping, Abbeystead and the Trough of Bowland can be as quirky and beautifully English as they sound. The area is full of nice pubs serving good beer and excellent food with sleepy churchyards and bubbling brooks falling from moody moorlands aplenty. But today I'm stuck on an 8 lane tarmacadam nightmare and traveling at walking pace. There's nothing for it but to croon along to some Otis, making sure the windows are up and the aircon is on, naturally. (lyrics are included so you can singalongwithseldon)
