Dreams I Might Have Had

TheSurf

Floating, flying, sailing, surfing, dreams that keep us afloat or adrift, either by land or by sea are also quite common. But, there is some good news here. Floating can mean peace and freedom in your dreams-if you are floating, flying, or anything like that in your dreams, relax, it's usually a good thing (usually. It can also mean you are feeling aloof and detached. Shrug.)

By now, you might be wondering, if I don't remember my dreams, why am I so fascinated with them? Since I don't remember them and I have such a hard time speculating what they might be, rather than trying to "force" them from my subconscious, I decided to leave them be-to live and let live-though they aren't entirely alone in the great dark abyss of my mind.

When I took up photography, I decided that I would take pictures of things I might dream about-to visually represent dreams. Bringing my fantasies and visions to life would now be done with my camera-a much more scientific device; one I could more easily control. That magical mystical "box of light" we all know and love as our cameras can actually interpret our subconscious too. If you look at the subjects I select, you might get some idea of what might make-up my dreams. I take pictures of flying, of moving, of dancers, of flowers, wild exotic locations, strange animals, and romantic notions. I shoot leaves blowing in the wind and old, forgotten cities. I make fantasy "worlds" imagining they really do exist, and they really do-or at least they might-in what would be my dreams. My dreams now exist, with help from my camera.

What will you dream about tonight? "To dream: perchance to photograph: ay, there's the rub."
