Bread and cider


How could I write about a trip to France without mentioning food? Every day I enjoyed the bread, mostly a variety of baguettes, but occasionally a loaf. After a day or so it started to go hard, but even then it was nice to chew. Thanks to European trade all the usual cheese was available to eat, but it made a lovely combination with the bread. There were a couple of local Brittany delicacies that I really enjoyed. The local cider had quite a low alcohol content compared to cider in the UK (and more than in the US) so was quite refreshing. The crêpes were available with either a sweet or savoury filling and I had a complet one with ham, cheese and eggs which really hit the spot one lunchtime
