Barn wall


The guidebook talked about inland Brittany being an area of intensive farming, but we were in the middle of much smaller farms. At the edge of each group of farms there's a map with all the farms marked, which was useful when it came to finding ours. Barns like this one often join onto farmhouses, presumably to save on building walls. Two rooms up from this barn was the farmhouse and then another barn beyond.

Every so often you come across a bit of string laid on the ground across the road. We never actually saw it tied up but we guessed that if were tied up off the ground it would show you that you need to stop because cows are being moved between fields up ahead.
