These massive structures are always well-lighted at night, a bright and luminous presence that attracts the eye at a distance. The lighting, however, isn't situated for dramatic effect. The lights are there because these are dangerous, sharp-edged places. People die here; people are mutilated.

This is a menacing sort of beauty, cold and unforgiving, but nonetheless compelling.
